JA Job Shadow
Introduce students to the world of work by hosting students in your workplace. Students get a "day in the life" of your career!
Young Minds at Work
Young
Minds at Work is a brand-new program designed to educate our area’s students
about high demand careers (manufacturing/engineering, healthcare,
construction/architecture, and hospitality). 7th grade students from MadisonCounty, MadisonCity, and HuntsvilleCitySchools travel to multiple local businesses
to discover new career options while discovering the thriving work world of Huntsville.
For
our premier event, local businesses can volunteer to host a YM@W Career Day.
During these event days, supporting companies:
Showcase their
industry and specializations
Give a tour through
the company
Present jobs of all
skill/education levels
Discuss education
qualifications and encourage local retainment
Open the door to new
interest and potential interns
Open
dates for 2010 are May 3-7 and May 10-14. A Career Day takes
approximately 4-5 hours during the standard work day. We ask that all material
be kept at a 7th grade level, and creativity is very much appreciated. From
hard hats to lab coats, students want to experience the industry as much as
possible. Now is your chance to introduce students to their future careers!
